“SilentDripStop” – Dan’s New Invention (#051511)

Last week I moved from Sherman Oaks to Hollywood. My new place is pretty nice (at least by my relative standards). On day one, I got some bad info that because air conditioners require a runoff of the water they accumulate mine must drip into the bathtub. Unfortunately, it sounded like a “Chinese Water Torture”. The constant dripping was annoyingly loud. Instead of immediately complaining to the building manager I devised my own solution. I jerry-rigged a way to silently & safely redirect the drips. I was so proud of my invention that I went to the building manager to offer to make other devices for my neighbors in need. Then I learned that the pipe to the tub is the secondary back-up to guarantee “zero overflow”. That manager sent the maintenance guys (less than an hour later) and they fixed it in under 8 minutes. No drips. No leaks. Leave it to me to devise the complicated solution when simply asking for help would’ve been faster & much better. Nevertheless, I think the invention is pretty cool. If no one came up with it before me then I would consider trying to sell it at places like HomeDepot and/or Lowe’s. (BTW – I know that by publicizing it there is now under a year for me to file a patent application or else I risk losing all IP rights for this invention). NOTE: I didn’t spend the at least k+ it would’ve cost to do a big “prior art search” of the USPTO’s patent database. So theoretically someone might have come up with it before me. But for now I’ll assume not …
